Chinara Mambetalieva, Deputy Director of the Department for Technical Regulation and Accreditation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in a meeting of the Pharmacopoeial Committee of the Eurasian Economic Union in Bishkek.
The EEC representative reported on the progress of work on the final fourth part of Volume I of the EAEU Pharmacopoeia, which includes harmonized general pharmacopoeial monographs, as well as the start of the development of individual pharmacopoeial monographs for Volume II of the Union’s Pharmacopoeia.
During the meeting, elections were held for the fourth-term leadership of the EAEU Pharmacopoeial Committee. Professor Arkadak Tulegenova, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and honorary member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was elected Chair for a three-year term. The Deputy Chairs elected were Professor Valeria Bagirova (Russia), Sergey Marchenko (Belarus), and Igor Strekha (Belarus).
The Chair presented a report on the committee’s activities from 2023 to 2026. During this period, Part III of Volume I of the Union Pharmacopoeia was adopted, and extensive work was carried out to prepare 105 general pharmacopoeial monographs, which will soon be included in the EAEU Pharmacopoeia. This work contributes to further harmonization of the pharmacopoeias of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia, as well as cooperation on pharmacopoeial standardization with Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The importance of the Union Pharmacopoeia’s participation in global harmonization was underscored by the creation of an expert group to align pharmacopoeial monographs with standards developed by the Pharmacopoeial Discussion Group (PDG).
Arkadak Tulegenova emphasized the importance of involving representatives of EAEU observer states in the work on the Union Pharmacopoeia and noted that representatives from Uzbekistan and Cuba participated as observers during the reporting period. Interest in participation has also been expressed by representatives from Iran.
Members of the Union’s Pharmacopoeial Committee approved the Guidelines for the Development of Individual Pharmacopoeial Monographs of the EAEU Pharmacopoeia – Part IV: Medicinal Products. They also approved the work plan schedule for 2026 and reviewed the first draft individual pharmacopoeial monographs for Volume II of the Union Pharmacopoeia.
