The Russian Federation supports the initiative of the Uppsala Monitoring Centre of the WHO (UMC) and participates in the annual awareness campaign dedicated to the safe use of medicines — MedSafetyWeek.
Traditionally held during the first week of November, national regulatory authorities from 117 countries worldwide encourage healthcare professionals, pharmacists, and patients to report adverse drug reactions.
The goals of MedSafetyWeek are to increase reporting of observed adverse reactions and emphasize the importance of such reports.
The purpose of monitoring drug efficacy and safety is to collect more information on known side effects as well as to detect new adverse reactions. The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) continuously collects and analyzes adverse reaction reports from medical institutions, pharmacies, patients, and marketing authorization holders.
Roszdravnadzor reminds that every report matters when it comes to medicine safety. By working together and sharing information, we can make medicines safer for all patients.
